Urijah Faber
Urijah Christopher Faber is mixed martial arts fighter from America. He was born on May 14, 1979 in Isla Vista, California. He holds the number two ranking at both World Extreme Cagefighting Organisation and MMA. He is currently a fighter with WEC and has already recorded his victory at WEC 19 on 17 March 2006. He held his championship with WEC for three consecutive year before losing it on November 05, 2008 to Mike Brown at WEC 36. He was ranked number one fighter in the world by MMA Weekly and Sherdog. Faber was born in California and was railed in Sacramento near a University of California. He did his schooling in Lincoln a small town of just 40000 people. He is an ardent follower of healthy living and exercising habits and rarely opts for conventional medicinal help. He has spent a good part of his teens and growing up years playing roller hockey, football and wrestling. He has a successful wrestling career at Lincoln in California and practiced his wrestling while pursuing his studies at University of California - Davis. Initially, Faber did not enroll in college with a scholarship but he as soon granted one in the freshman year on the wrestling team. He retained his place as the 133 lbs wrestler for US Davis throughout his college education. He earned it during his sophomore year. He was a NCAA division I qualifier and all time leader for UC-Davis during his college years finished in top 12. He was a runner up at University Nationals in 2002 and was a great alternative for the University Nationals World Team. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Human Development. He began his career at MMA thereafter and stayed mostly on staff of UC Davis. He fought for the first time at World Extreme Cagefighting Promotion on March 17, 2006 and defeated Cole Escovedo by technical knockout in round 2. He won WEC Feather Weight Championship that day. He again defended his KOTC Bantamweight title on May 13, 2006. This was for the third time when he defeated Charlie Valencia by rear naked choke in round 1 of the match. Thereafter on july 01, 2006, he beat Naoya Uematsu by technical knockout in the second round at GC. This time he held three titles simultaneously for the first time. He defeated Enoch Wilson by TKO in a fight at Full Contact Promotions Organization on September 09, 2006. He returned to KOTC on October 28 and defended his title for the fourth time by beating Bibiano Fernandes by technical knockout in the first round. His GC and KOTC titles were purchased by Zuffa in December 2006 when he vacated them after signing contract with WEC. He defended his WEC Feather Weight Title for the first time when defeated Joe Person by submission on January 25, 2007 at WEC:25 McCullough vs. Cope. He defended it successfully second time as well by defeating Dominic Cruz by guillotine choke on March 24, 2007 at WEC 26: Condit vs. Alessio. Overall Faber is a great fighter and possibly one of the most well rounded mma fighters in the world.
