Shane Carwin
Shane Carwin was born on April 04, 1975 in Greeley Colorado as one of three sons to a single mother. His mother had the aim of aiding all her sons through college. Carwin received his Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He also holds are Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Technology from Western State College. Carwin wrestled since his college times and was successful as an athlete as well. He was a 3x NCAA Division 2 National Finalist, and a National Champion wrestle at the Western State College. He was also two times All-American in Football and was chosen as the RMAC Football Player of the year in 1996. In the same year, he was also invited to for participation in 1998 Senior Bowl as a linebacker. Carwin began his career in Mixed Martial Arts as after finishing his college. He first entered as a wrestling partner before entering the championships himself. He became the Ring of Fire heavyweight champion when he defeated his first eight opponents by first round stoppage. After that he signed up with UFC and made his debut at UFC 84 against Christian Wellisch. He knocked Wellisch's mouth guard and won the match in just 44 seconds by KO. He thereafter won his next match by TKO against Neil Wain at UFC 89. After his successful wins, Carwin faced Gabriel Gonzaga and won via knockout in just 69 seconds of the first round with a straight right hand. This marked his eleventh successive victory in first half of the first round. Shane Carwin is currently married and has an 8-year old son with his previous marriage. He remains undefeated in the UFC and competes in the Heavy Weight division of Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is nicknamed as "The Engineer" by his fans due to his educational background. He still continues to work in his engineering field and pursues his career at UFC as well. He also coaches students at University of Northern Colorado where he volunteers as a wrestling coach. |
