Joshua Joseph Thomson is mixed martial arts fighter born on September 21, 1978 in San Jose California. He currently trains with American Kickboxing Academy and his primary fighting style is kickboxing and wrestling. He has recorded 16 wins so far of which 4 were by knockout and 8 by submission. He has lost two fights so far but his record at UFC and MMA is quite admirable. He has fought at the World Fihting Alliance, UFC, Japan's PRIDE Fighting Championships and the Strikeforce. He is World LightWeight and the Strikeforce US Champion.

He defeated Gilbert Melendez On June 27, 2008 at Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Thomson by unanimous decision. He became the Strikeforce Lightweight Champion after this fight with Melendez. However, during his training session on April 01, 2009, he broke his ankle. He was scheduled to fight Melendez again on April 11 at Strikeforce debut on Showtime Network.
